Website Update - Top 10 Page List for July 2011

Top 10 ListOnce again, it's the end of a month, and time to look at the server logs for the site. And as normal, I've compiled a list of the 10 most popular pages from the site for the month. There was a newcomer that hadn't made the list before - Factoids Debunked & Verified, Part IV.

Overall traffic was much the same - down about 1% from the previous month.

As long as I'm discussing July, I might as well mention something from the real world. We're having a pretty hot summer here in Wichita Falls. Every day this past July, the high temperature exceeded 100ºF. As of today, we've tied the record for most consecutive days where the temperature exceeded 100º - 42 days. Seeing as how the high for tomorrow is predicted to be 112º, I think it's safe to assume that we'll set a new record. And August is just getting started. (more info)

So, here are the 10 most popular pages from this site for July 2011.

  1. Blog - A Skeptical Look at MBT Shoes
  2. Autogyro History & Theory
  3. Blog - My Favorite Airplanes
  4. Blog - Origin of Arabic Numerals - Was It Really for Counting Angles?
  5. Factoids Debunked & Verified, Part IV
  6. Blog - Running AutoCAD R14 in XP Pro 64
  7. Blog - The Texas Republican Platform, or Why I'm Not a Republican
  8. Blog - Crazy E-mail - Cash for Clunkers
  9. Blog - Book Review - Voyage of the Beagle
  10. Blog - Ray Comfort - Still Ignorant on Evolution

Added 2011-08-03 - As of right now (11:15 a.m.), weather.gov is reporting 100ºF in Wichita Falls. So, we've officially broken the record. And now that we can say that that's done, it would be nice to see some rain.

Website Update - Website Facelift

Face LiftIf you happen to go visit my homepage, you may have noticed a change (here's the latest archived version on the Wayback Machine). I've decided that the static portion of my website is in need of a facelift, and that's where I started. I'll begin updating other pages as time permits, and make no promises on when the process will be completed.

Website Update - Top 10 Page List for June 2011

Top 10 ListJune's over, which means it's time to go looking at the server logs to see how my site did last month. Traffic is staying about the same as the past few months, but a bit lower than where it peaked back in March. (OTOH, March was anomalously high, and June was only slightly lower than the other months from this year, and still higher than any month from preceeding years.)

One new article made it into the top 10 - The 2010 Texas Republican Platform. It had been close a few times previously, but never quite made it.

My 2011 entries aren't doing so well. Two of them (Book Review - God- or Gorilla?, Chapter 12 and Book Review - More Than a Carpenter) were ranked 11th and 12th just a month ago, but slipped down to 48th and 50th in June, and they're my highest ranked entries from this year. Oh well. I know I could get more traffic with some religious or political entries, but expect to continue to see a lot more of the God- or Gorilla? posts for a while yet, since things are still rather busy for me at work right now, and I don't have a lot of time to go researching for other in depth entries (though I'm rather proud of myself for the Directly Downwind Faster Than the Wind (DDWFTTW) post, even if it hasn't proven to be very popular).

So, here are the 10 most popular pages from this site for June 2011.

  1. Blog - A Skeptical Look at MBT Shoes
  2. Autogyro History & Theory
  3. Blog - The Texas Republican Platform, or Why I'm Not a Republican
  4. Blog - Origin of Arabic Numerals - Was It Really for Counting Angles?
  5. Factoids Debunked & Verified
  6. Blog - Ray Comfort - Still Ignorant on Evolution
  7. Blog - Response to Anti-Liberal Article by Gary Hubbell
  8. Blog - Creation Museum/2nd Law of Thermodynamics
  9. Blog - The 2010 Texas Republican Platform
  10. Blog - My Favorite Airplanes

Website Update - Top 10+2 Page List for May 2011

Top 10 ListIt's the start of a new month, so it's time to go through the server logs and see how my site did last month. As far as overall traffic, the surge appears to have plateaued. I had more traffic than last month, but not quite as much the few months prior to that.

All of the entries in the top 10 had made the list before, although one of them had only made it once before, and was a bit of a surprise to see there again, Recipe for 3 Cheese Chicken Enchiladas with Cream Cheese Sauce (though it's a really good recipe and entirely deserving of getting quite a bit of traffic).

I'd mentioned previously that none of my entries from 2011 have managed to make it into the top 10, yet. That still hasn't changed, but this time, it was close. A week ago, a couple entries from 2011 were in the top 10 for the month up to that point, but they barely lost out by month's end. A mere 8 page views separated the 10th and 11th most popular pages from May, and it was only another 12 more to the 12th most popular page. And the 11th and 12th most popular pages were from this year. So, as the title of this post suggests, I decided to add in those pages to the list this month.

Here are the 10 + 2 most popular pages from my site for May 2011.

  1. Autogyro History & Theory
  2. Blog - A Skeptical Look at MBT Shoes
  3. Blog - Origin of Arabic Numerals - Was It Really for Counting Angles?
  4. Blog - The Texas Republican Platform, or Why I'm Not a Republican
  5. Blog - My Favorite Airplanes
  6. Blog - Casio EX-F1 - First Impression of the High Speed Video
  7. Recipe for 3 Cheese Chicken Enchiladas with Cream Cheese Sauce
  8. Blog - Running AutoCAD R14 in XP Pro 64
  9. Factoids Debunked & Verified
  10. Blog - Ray Comfort - Still Ignorant on Evolution
  1. Blog - Book Review - God- or Gorilla?, Chapter 12
  2. Blog - Book Review - More Than a Carpenter

Website Update - Too Busy

A couple months ago when I started on the God or Gorilla series, I said I was still going to try to come up with another substantive post every week. Well, I'm really busy at work right now, so I'm cutting my lunches short to get things done. So for the next few weeks, I may only have time to do God or Gorilla posts. If anything else gets posted, consider it a bonus.
